Everyone is invited to the World Cultural Celebration and kickoff for the Library's annual Summer Reading Programs at the San Leandro Main Library, 300 Estudillo Ave., on Saturday, June 11, from 11 AM to 3 PM. Admission to the celebration is free and includes dazzling multi-ethnic entertainment and special fun for the kids!
The performing groups featured at this event will be the Emeryville Taiko Drummers; the Ballet Folklorico Costa de Oro; Onye, Master of African Drumming; and the Niosha Persian Dance Academy. Magic Mike will delight children of all ages with magic, comedy and juggling. His colorful family show will have everyone laughing and inspired.
There will also be four separate sign-up booths for the Toddlers', Children’s, Teens’ and Adults’ Summer Reading Programs. The 2011 Children’s Summer Reading Program theme is "One World, Many Stories."
Kids can also make international arts and crafts all day at the kids craft area sponsored by the Library, the Asian Community Cultural Association and the Arts Council of San Leandro. A variety of delicious ethnic foods will be available for purchase. Adding to the festivities will be a FREE drawing for raffle prizes!
