SAN LEANDRO, CA: The City Council invites the public to attend an upcoming Council Meeting that will include an in-depth discussion of the City’s upcoming Fiscal Year 2019-20 budget. The meeting will take place on Monday, April 15, 2019, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, City Hall located at 835 East 14th Street.
Throughout the spring of every other year, City staff develop a draft biennial (two-year) budget that is presented to the City Council for their review and feedback prior to their formal adoption of the budget in June. Each budget year begins on July 1 and ends on June 30. This meeting is part of the ongoing process of public meetings that provide an opportunity for discussion, including forecasted revenues and expenditures.
“A city’s annual budget should always reflect the community’s priorities and values” noted Mayor Pauline Russo Cutter. “I encourage any members of the public who may wish to learn more about the City’s finances to come to this upcoming meeting. As always, the process will include opportunities for the public to ask questions or provide feedback that will help inform the City Council’s decisions.”
A newly updated Your City Budget webpage has been launched to provide the community with additional opportunities for participation and information. The webpage includes an overview of the budget cycle, a calendar of public meetings, and links to key resources such as financial forecasts. This webpage may also be updated to include links to community survey questions or other opportunities for the public to share feedback about City services, values and priorities for budgeting. The public is encouraged to check back regularly for any updates.
