SAN LEANDRO, CA: In celebration of Arab American Month, the San Leandro Public Library invites residents to the Aswat Men’s and Women’s Choir performance for the community. The choral performance will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the Main Library, located at 300 Estudillo Avenue in Downtown San Leandro.

Aswat is an ensemble for classical and folk Arabic music that performs Muwashahat (Arabic poetry, sung in the tradition of Andalusia, Spain), as well as traditional and contemporary songs from the Arab World.
Aswat has achieved a professional level of competence and has made appearances in numerous colleges, universities, festivals and conferences in the Bay Area. The group consists of twenty singers and musicians from different parts of the world and welcomes anyone who is interested or even curious about Arabic music. Aswat is part of Zawaya, a non-profit forum that provides instruction and presentation of all aspects of the Arabic culture.
